Had a lovely time at Spoutwood MayDay Festival...
medievalmuse and I had quite the adventure, and experienced lots of joy from the beautiful creatures and people we met. ( spoutwood )
Somehow managed to get Poison Ivy even though I thought I was being very careful...never even saw it! Could have been on one of the many animals I fawned over, my skin is so ridiculously sensitive.
Even more excited about FaerieCon in October...seems so much closer now.

Happy Birthday to superfin!

My other half had a birthday today, and we have been celebrating all weekend with great dinners out and lots of down time with the beasts. Last night a friend came over and we had such a hard time deciding which 'on demand' movie we were in the mood to watch, that we ended up spending nearly an hour just watching previews. Finally decided on something that provoked much nostalgia for all of us.

The cat was still fabulous, but the movie itself was best left in the good memory zone.
Thanks to _siddal_ for bringing this preview into my view: The Fox and the Child. Looks lovely.

 Today's window sitter: Tootsie.

Currently running closer to the eight week mark for custom orders. I really try to keep on the side of six weeks, but sometimes it can't be helped. So lucky to have customers who understand. Back to work...

Excited and slightly over-stimulated about all the upcoming projects, jewelry to be made, and preparing for Spoutwood at the end of the month. Yay for medievalmuse once again flying up to join me for the long Massachusetts to Pennsylvania drive. How lucky I am to have friends like these~
Speaking of great friends, a new one that somehow feels like a long-familiar soul has written such lovely words that I am blushing profusely this Tuesday Morning. Thank you Aurora~ And many thanks to sidhe_etain for pointing me to her beautiful photography in the first place.

The Hanging Nasturtiums are up at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
To help celebrate this annual tradition, I was asked to create a few necklaces depicting the flower. I found a few lovely old Botanical Prints, and dropped them off yesterday along with a pendant of Isabella's motto "C'est mon plaisir" (which is engraved on the side of the building). It was a gray and overcast day but once inside, we were hit with the vibrant scent and colors of these amazing flowers and the other Spring plantings.
I am eternally grateful to have the opportunity to work with this most magical place. |

I had ordered a Fairytale Story Shoulder Bag from the lovely and talented folks at Baba Studio/ Magic Realist Press.
It is more beautiful than I had expected, the attention to detail and quality of materials is to be worshiped. Thank you baba_studio!

Undine in the Wind is a very appropriate image around here, as high winds have been a daily occurrence. We found two poor little birds that have been victims of it, and buried their fragile bodies in the yard. This old house sways like a tree, particularly up here in the attic studio.

Saturday we visited the New England Spring Flower Show Mossy goodness. Met a fantastically talented photographer: Grace Notes Photography, and on Sunday I sorted through some costumes to try and further organize my studio. Viola and Sidney provided the help.
Insanely busy with taxes, Spoutwood preparation, order fulfillment, and other looming projects. * Checked in with my ex in Atlanta to make sure she was ok, as the last time we spoke she was living in an area affected by the tornado. Luckily she was fine, but worried about all the lost pets and trying to help out. glad there are some happy endings

Thankfully all went well with Fin's dental surgery this morning, we are going to pick him up soon.

My trip was much too short, but entirely wonderful. Even the five hour flight delay going back home did nothing to take away the relaxation I accumulated in that peaceful corner of the world (with great company and decor that made me feel like I was visiting a European castle, out of my own country and even the current era.)
medievalmuse has one of the most spectacular houses I have ever seen, and her little furry children are so adorable and a constant source of entertainment. Wish I could have stayed much longer. ( +++ ) |

Natalie Portman taking style tips from Ugly Betty? March 5th, 2008 - 6:50 pm
Washington , Mar 5 (ANI): It seems actress Natalie Portman has been taking style tips from Ugly Betty, for shes donning a similar necklace in posters for her latest flick, as the one made famous by America Ferrera.
Portman is seen pouting in the posters for her latest film The Other Boleyn Girl, and is sporting a signature B necklace that has been religiously worn by Ferrera in the US comedy drama series Ugly Betty.
However, it seems that Portman's stylists were not foolish. In fact, Betty's necklace was inspired by one given to Anne Boleyn by Henry VIII.
Betty's necklace looks exactly like the original, The Daily Express quoted a resident historian, as saying.
He added: It can be seen in many of her portraits and is often worn by actresses playing her although it took a fictional 21st-century Latina geek to make it famous. (ANI)

no, I didn't make the one worn in the Other Boleyn Girl, or the Tudors! But it is hysterical that some folks only recognize it as Betty's necklace. So odd. I have been making these B necklaces for over ten years...now I see copies popping up on ebay and etsy, arguments on message boards about who wore it best, and one rather insulting designer who puts my own down to promote her version. It is all so surreal, my one quirky replica design getting so much attention. I think I must know what it feels like to be a band who gets known only for their one cover song. :) It's all good though, I adore Betty and am proud to see her wear my B. |

Received an amazing gift, a portrait of my Beloved Athena by Merle, sweet pascalbijou. Her talent for capturing the spirit in her own pure vision never ceases to amaze me. A true original. Thank you so much, dear friend.
Lots going on, mostly all good. Finny is getting older, he has already surprised his vets by sticking around so long...but he needs some teeth removed and we had to put carpet treads on the stairs so he could still make it up and down. We will be nervous when he gets his teeth done next week, but it cannot be put off any longer or he may have bigger problems from it.
Now that the office has been moved upstairs into the studio, we now have an extra room for what was most needed in this Victorian house, closet space! Spent the weekend painting and stenciling, a little bit Moorish, Egyptian, and Victorian-ish dressing room. Inspired by Olana, it still has a long way to go to be over the top, but just a bit at a time for now.
( random & recent )
Also preparing for a trip just under a week from now to finally visit the fabulous medievalmuse and her Queen Mab and Sir Frick! Cannot wait. |

Working for yourself can get a bit lonely, I consider everyone at my local post office my co-workers. For the ten years I have been shipping from Stoneham, Barry has been a joy to deal with the several times a week I drop in. We were invited to attend his retirement party tonight at a local restaurant, I felt very honored to be there.
Thanks Barry! You will be greatly missed.

(I never posted about how much fun we had at The Super Furry Animals show last Saturday! Some bands you listen to for years and never realize how amazing they are live! We will never miss them again if they play in Boston. Those Welsh boys know how to make a crowd laugh and have a great time. See them if you can!) |

New additions to Vessels, Stained Glass, and Ornaments.
Typing from my new office area, tucked away cozily under the eaves and just across from my jewelry work table. Hopefully this will help with organization and will save time from running up and down the stairs all day. Though will have to go to the gym more often to make up for it! Will pretty the space up later on, but for now it is just perfect. Now to catch up on everything! ( office ) |
